Land, Sky and Sea chords on video

Typical isn’t it? I create a songbook with all of the chords and lyrics from my first three albums, and then, within days, release a new album. The chords from The Cauldron Born will be in volume two, but that’s a few years away, and I keep getting people asking for the chords to Land, Sky and Sea. So I’ve had a bit of fun creating a little instructional video for anyone who’d like to have a go playing this song. Enjoy!

  1. This is awesome (and yes, I did enjoy it very much 🙂 ), thank you! (Now let’s see how to get this onto the harp…)

  2. That was great (even for a non muso such as myself who quite frankly understands music as much as I understand metaphysics!!!) but it was lovely to watch and listen to and see the inner workings of a great song – Thank you 🙂

  3. OK, so this inspired me to pick up a guitar for the first time in my life. I asked my husband to start me off. My fingers are now blistered and I have only managed to play E, F & G ( and make them sound like notes) so I guess his comment about this being “a bit advanced” was right. Thanks though, it’s lovely to see how it all comes together.

  4. Sweet video Damh! I love it. I play guitar now and then, but im primarily a mandolin player. Keep up the good work. As you always say… peace and blessed be. See you at the A.G. gathering.

  5. Ha ha, love the “in your face” cinematography, Damh!

Unfortunately I’ve sprained me wrist and am off the gitfiddle for a few weeks, but never fear I will be tuning back in to get the licks for this fine song. World peace, get ready to rock and roll!

  6. Finally we get an instructional vid! I have somewhat shamefully given up guitar for the last few years in shock at my own awfulness, but this has inspired me to have another go. Cheers Damh! Oh, and happy birthday by the way. 🙂

Also – just an idea, but how about a live performance of yours for the next podcast?

  7. Thank you! Not on the next one, but I recorded the OBOD Summer Eisteddfod over the weekend, and there’ll be a few performances from that in July’s, including one from me 🙂

  8. Fantastic to hear that Damh! I’m the Bard formerly known as Eala Serenarian – I caved in and joined WordPress at last.

Looking forward to July’s podcast and the live performances!

  9. Oh right Damh…. that easy huh? Well you make it look easy…. hmmmm somehow me thinks I will stick to my Djembe…. and can at times make that sound like an unturned biscuit tin!
Fantastic idea though and I Love it!
Was great to see you in Glastonbury.

  10. Thanks, Damh, for taking the time to produce this video. I have only got into your music over the last two or three years after having been introduced to you by my new partner (now wife following a handfasting last year). The guitar has been out again following the arrival of your first songbook (although progress is somewhat slow :-() and now, with this video, I can have a go at ruining another of my favourites!

I thought your album “Spirit Of Albion” was fantastic – how could it possibly be bettered? Answer – “The Cauldron Born” album. Not strictly pagan (although I suspect I am heading in that direction) I find your lyrics very meaningful and moving.

“Land, Sea and Sky” always takes me back to the time when I lived close to the Moray Firth in Scotland and a short walk would take me to places where I could enjoy all three in glorious solitude.

Keep making great music – I hope to catch you live sometime.

  11. Thanks Richard. Great that you’ve got the old guitar out again – keep strumming!!

And the inspiration behind Land, Sky and Sea was a visit to St Ninian’s Cave in Dumfries and Galloway, so the Scottish coast is very much there in the song.

    Peace
    Damh

  12. Thanks so much. Any chance of chords for the songs Cauldron Borne? I am pretty sure I got some of them (Dm, F, G) but can’t quite put it all together…
