In my last blog post I asked for some suggestions for a cover song for my album due out in November. As usual you came up with some wonderful ideas, and some very daft ones too! Certainly lots of think about for future gigs and recordings, but as I read through I was reminded of a song that I was going to put on the Crow Man album. At the time I just couldn’t find an arrangement that I felt did the song justice. So I sat with the song again and this time the arrangement just flowed and last weekend I recorded it.
The song is called The January Man and it was written in 1970 by Dave Goulder. The tune, lyrics, and vibe of the song fit in perfectly with the overall feel of the new album, and I’m so excited about you hearing it in November.
So thanks for all of your suggestions, and a lot of fun. Here’s Christie Moore’s version of the song so you can get an idea of what’s on its way.
Such a lovely song, I can’t wait to hear your version 🙂
What a tease! I look forward to the new release and the many places it will take me.
Lovely song. Wonderful choice!
Definately wins the hippy-off. Can’t wait to hear you singing this beautiful song. ;-)xx
You sang it beautifully at the Mercian (apart from October ;o) ) LOL.
I love hearing Christie sing this.
