Blodeuwedd Hunting

As I was walking Oscar last night I caught a flash of white across the field.

A barn owl hunting.

I was so focussed on the moment that I only caught this very short clip.

As people debated destruction in the House of Commons the rest of Nature continues, as She always will.

Blodeuwedd, cursed to hunt in the night, finds freedom in the air beneath her wings, and cares not for the concerns of humans.

Fly free.

It’s good to know that some parts of the world at least were untouched by last night’s debate and vote. The owl hunts to eat. What’s our excuse?

Yes,my passion is the hunters..the birds of prey. Their call stirs something deep. I heard them in Dumfries and Galloway the other week. The kestrel is my heart, my objective view over dilemmas, my messenger and companion, but all hunters fill me with awe, joy and respect.
