Unity in our Common Ground

800px-Hold_my_handWow, it’s been a while since I last posted a blog. During my tour the internet was rare (camping in the countryside combined with mobile data costing £6 per mb was just too much!) so I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn’t be posting while I was away.

Two weeks on the road and I am once again sitting here feeling blessed to be a part of a worldwide Pagan community.

Some say that Paganism is so diverse that it cannot be a community.

Some say we should all just call what we do something else entirely.

Some say that Paganism is made up of so many paths, with so many points of view, that it is in danger of melt-down and fragmentation.

But I am lucky enough to travel with my music and meet Pagans from all over the world, and everywhere I go I feel the same energy. From Wiccans to Druids to Heathens and Eclectics, there is a huge swathe of common ground that we all share. We might differ in the detail and our personal dogmas, but when we work from that space of common ground we create wonder, magic and worldwide community.

And I feel honoured to be a part of that.

Hurrah for all of us!

  1. Welcome back!
I’ve often wondered how we can present a united front to the world especially now as we seek to protect our Mother Earth against those who may believe that they can divide and conquer as a way to silence us.
As long as we focus on the most important things that unite us and don’t allow egos or power struggles to divide us, we are a mighty force for peace and change in our world. Bless you. You always put things so well and I always agree with you.

  2. Well said as always Dave! There’s nothing like music for bringing people together whatever their pagan path! – And you do it so well! Blessings, Kev.

  3. I’ve noticed those same things, that no matter what brand of paganism we follow that there is always that same energy when we gather together. But at the same time I would like to add caution to the sometimes hostel encounters I have also seen. My wish is that we can all have respect for each other for unlike so many other belief systems we KNOW we are all on the same path no matter how we choose to walk it. Faerie Blessings to you, Damh!
